Bhrigu Lake Trek Manali - Trek To The Holy Lake

Bhrigu Lake is a lake located at an elevation of around 4,300 metres (14,100 ft) in Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh, India. It is located to the east of Rohtang Pass and is around 8 kilometres from Gulaba village. It can be reached by trekking either from the Vashishth temple, which is famous for its hot water springs or by Gulaba village.

Story : The lake itself derived its name from the peak called Bhrigu. According to legend Maharishi Bhrigu (saint) of Saptarishi fame had meditated on bank of this secluded and pristine lake lying at 4,300 metres above sea level. Brighu lake remains frozen for more than half of the year.

The hike to bhrigu is steep & comprise of walking over large expanse of snow (In the months of winter) till you reach a point where the oval shaped lake appears. Enjoy the quite surroundings near the lake & afterward descend through meadows to the camp site of Pandu Ropa. Afterwards walk is through rice fields of Pandu Ropa with grand views of snow clad mountains. The rivulets of water flowing through high grass present a refreshing sight. The last leg of hike is a steep decent through old mountain villages & apple orchards. The trek ends in Vashish which is just the right place to end a hike owing to a hot sulphur water spring.

By Road :
Delhi to Chandigarh : (243.5 km) via NH44
Chandigarh to Manali : (308.6 km) via NH205 and NH3
Manali to Gulaba Village : 15-20 km

On Trek : Gulaba to Brighu lake (10 - 12 km)

Gulaba to Kothi Thel (3000mts.)

Kothi to Bhrigu.(4250meters)

Bhrigu Lake to Vashisht Thel(3650meters)

Vashisht Thel to Vashisht village

The nearest airport is Kullu airport.
The nearest Railway Station is Chandigarh (350 km.) and Ambala (360 km).
